This morning, I got into my car, ready for an appointment… and nothing. It wouldn’t start.
I looked around and spotted the culprit—a tiny light left on overnight, completely draining the battery. With no neighbours around, I had to call and reschedule my appointment. Thankfully, I pay for AA cover every month just in case, even though I haven’t needed it in two years.
A lovely AA mechanic arrived, jumped the car, and then checked my battery. He told me, “This one’s gone—you’ll need a new one.” Without hesitation, I said, “No problem.” He replaced it on the spot, and I was back on the road.
And then it hit me.
We don’t hesitate to pay for breakdown cover. We don’t question the cost of fixing our car because we know we need it to get where we want to go. But when it comes to the most important vehicle we own—ourselves—so many hesitate.
People run on empty, their inner “battery” drained from stress, anxiety, or years of pushing through. They tell themselves they’ll be fine, they’ll cope, they don’t need help. Until they break down.
As a hypnotherapist, I some times hear “I can't spend that on myself” when I give my prices. But what you’re investing in isn’t a session—it’s the transformation that follows, it’s the life you get to live afterward. It’s waking up feeling lighter, thinking clearly, and moving forward without the weight of the past holding you back.
If I had told the mechanic the new battery was too expensive, I’d still be stuck. No transport. No options. A ripple effect of inconvenience and stress.
Yet, people do this to themselves all the time. They keep going, drained, exhausted, pushing through—when all they need is a jump start.
Maybe this is your sign to stop running on empty. If you’re ready for your own recharge, let’s talk.
